Moving Eyes is designed to collect as little information about you as possible. This page explains what is and isn't collected.
What's stored on your device
The app stores data locally on your phone, and nowhere else. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.
What's sent off your device
Two things, both about the app rather than about you.
Crash reports, sent to Sentry when the app crashes or hits an error, so the bug can be found and fixed. A report contains:
- A crash log: what went wrong, and where in the code it happened.
- Your device model and operating system version.
- The version of the app you're running.
Usage and diagnostic events, sent to Grafana Cloud. These record how the app itself behaves: that a display session ran and for how long, that a scene was saved, that a screen was opened, and warnings or errors the app logged along the way.
Both carry two random identifiers: one for your installation of the app and one for the current run of it. They are generated by the app, they are not your advertising ID or any device serial number, and they are not linked to a name, email address or account. Deleting the app discards the installation identifier, and a fresh install generates a new one.
Neither of these ever contains a scene you built, a photo, or anything captured by the microphone.
What isn't collected
The app does not:
- Show ads, or include any advertising SDK or ad network.
- Use an advertising identifier.
- Track your location.
- Sell or share your data with anyone beyond the two services named above.
- Require an account. There is no sign-in anywhere in the app.
Deleting your Moving Eyes data
Everything you make in Moving Eyes, your scenes and your settings, is stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes all of it, immediately and permanently. Nothing has to be requested from us.
To have the crash reports and usage events tied to your installation deleted as well:
- Open Settings in the app and tap Send feedback. Write "delete my data" and send it. This attaches your installation identifier automatically, which is the only way to find your records.
- If you have already uninstalled the app, email contact@nightjarlabs.llc from any address and say when you last used the app and on what device. Without the installation identifier we may not be able to locate the records, since nothing is tied to your name or email.
Requests are actioned within 30 days. What gets deleted: the crash reports, the usage and diagnostic events, and the installation and session identifiers attached to them. Nothing is kept afterwards, because there is nothing else about you to keep.
Left alone, these records expire on their own. Sentry holds a crash report for up to 90 days and Grafana Cloud holds a usage event for up to 30, after which both are deleted without you having to ask.
Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone (optional): only if you switch on Sound reactivity, so the eyes can look toward doors, voices and footsteps. Audio is analysed on your device, moment to moment, and immediately discarded. Nothing is recorded, nothing is written to storage, and no audio or anything derived from it ever leaves your device. The app reads only how loud the room is and which microphone a sound reached first; it does not process speech and cannot recognise what is said. Declining costs you nothing else — every other feature works, and the permission is never asked for again unless you turn the setting on yourself.
That is the only permission the app asks for.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted here and the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised.
